How to become an AAADI pilot
We are currently offering two options for qualified pilots that wish to fly legally for commercial purposes. Both options come with unlimited cloud storage and online log entry for FAA compliance.
1. Use the AAADI program under our Quality Assurance process for an annual fee (non-disclosure agreement required). We will provide all required resources for you to fly in compliance with all applicable FAA requirements. With this package you can develop your own business and receive leads from AAADI.
2. Work as a sub-contractor for AAADI with no annual fees for a fair market piece rate fee (non-compete and non-disclosure agreement required).
Becoming an AAADI pilot will require a considerable investment of your time as well as a monetary investment for the required equipment and insurance. AAADI does not guarantee that you will pass our certification process or a return on your investment, so please consider all potential opportunities and risks prior to starting the process.
Step one: You must provide proof of your FAA Pilot Certificate to fly under our exemption. If you are unsure of your eligibility please check the FAA website.
Step two: You must provide an FAA AC Form 8050-1, for proof of ownership and registration of an aerial drone approved for use under our FAA exemption. Currently we are approved for the DJI Phantom 2 Vision. However, we intend to extend our list in the future. Note: this form is not available for digital filing and must be acquired from your local FAA authority and manually filed. Learn more here
Step three: You must read our entire exemption, agree to adhere to it, and sign our non-disclosure agreement. This step will be accessed through a private secure server after your initial application has been approved.
Step four: You must pass our flight and photography field test. While flight safety is our highest priority, you must also be able to provide high quality photography & cinematography services.
Step five: Provide proof of at least a $1Million liability insurance specifically for aerial drones. We will provide a list of carriers and you are welcome to find your own. You should expect an annual premium between $900-$1500. However, we expect significant premium drops as the industry grows.
